Town or hills: the decision that sets your night
Sitges town is beautiful and it is packed. Narrow streets, apartments above everything, a seafront lined with buildings people live in. Anything held inside that fabric is constrained by it, because Catalan noise limits are measured at the façade of the nearest dwelling, and in the town centre the nearest dwelling is rarely far away.
Drive ten minutes inland and it changes completely. Around Sant Pere de Ribes and up into the Garraf massif there are masias, restored farmhouses and private villas set in their own land, and some of them have no permanently occupied house within a few hundred metres. Those venues routinely run an enclosed party to 03:00.
So the choice is a real one, and it is worth making consciously: sea view and walkable town with an earlier finish, or ten minutes inland with a full night. Most couples who want both put their guests in Sitges and hold the wedding in the hills, which is a good answer.
The Catalan clocks, briefly
Three rules run at once and the earliest wins. The legal night begins at 23:00, and from that hour permitted levels at the neighbour's façade drop sharply. Outdoor amplified music is commonly capped at 23:00 by the municipal ordinance, which applies on private estates too, so being on private land is not an exemption. And the venue's licence sets a closing hour, typically around 02:30 for a licensed banqueting venue, with a half hour more on Friday and Saturday nights and a summer extension towards 03:30. A mayor can reduce those hours by up to two hours in exceptional, justified cases.
These are the general mechanisms rather than a ruling on your venue. Hours are set per venue and per municipality and they change. Confirm your date's closing time with the venue in writing.
The second act, which only works here
Everywhere else in Catalonia, when the venue closes the wedding is over, because the venue is in a field and the guests are in coaches. Sitges is the exception. The town has a long-standing nightlife, most of your guests are staying within walking distance of it, and it is entirely normal for a wedding to continue somewhere else afterwards.
The difference between that being a highlight and being a shambles is whether it was arranged in advance. What works:
- Pick the place beforehand and tell someone there you are coming. Sixty people arriving unannounced at 02:30 is a different reception from sixty people expected.
- Tell the guests during the wedding, not after it. If people find out where everyone went by text message at 03:00, half of them have already gone to bed.
- Decide who is closing the venue. Somebody has to stay with the gifts, the flowers and the last suppliers, and it should be agreed rather than defaulting to the couple.
- Treat the venue's last half hour as an ending. If there is a second act, the first act still needs a proper finish rather than trailing off because everyone knows there is more later.
Done well, an 02:00 curfew in Sitges is not a shorter wedding. It is a wedding with a change of scene in it.
What the DJ job actually is here
Two things shape it. First, the crowd tends to be genuinely international, because Sitges is chosen precisely by couples with guests flying in from several countries, and because the town itself has an international resident population. That means no single decade or genre carries the whole room, and the set has to start wider and commit later than it would at a local wedding.
Second, if there is an early curfew the energy curve has to be compressed. A party that ends at 01:00 cannot spend the first hour warming up. It opens close to full strength and treats every hour as a peak hour. That is a legitimate way to run a night, and it is a completely different plan from a five-hour one, which is why the finishing time is the first thing worth establishing.

Twenty minutes from the airport
Sitges sits roughly twenty to twenty-five minutes from Barcelona airport, which is closer than most of Barcelona is. For a destination wedding that is worth more than it sounds. Guests land and are at the hotel within the hour, which removes the day everyone loses to travel, and it makes a Friday arrival realistic for people who could not take the whole week off.
It also means the city is available without being the base. Thirty-five minutes into central Barcelona is close enough for a group excursion on the Friday and far enough that your wedding is not competing with a city break.
How we work in Sitges
We come as DJ only where the venue has an installed system or a resident technical company, which in this area is common. Where there is nothing suitable, we supply sound and lighting sized to the room. Where you have contracted an AV or production company separately, we work alongside them.
For town venues in particular, we want to know the limiter situation before anything else, because a system that cannot be turned up is a different set from one that can, and it is much better to know that in the planning than to discover it during the first dance.
We do not publish prices, because a DJ-only booking on a house system in Sant Pere de Ribes and a fully supplied wedding at a beach venue in town are not the same job. Tell us the date and the venue and you get a real number.
