The castle and its setting

Castell de Tamarit is a castle of Romanesque origin dating from the thirteenth century, standing at Tamarit about ten minutes from Tarragona. It faces the sea, set in a wooded landscape, with its own parking.

• A licensed banqueting venue typically closes around 02:30, with an extra half hour on Friday and Saturday nights and the eve of public holidays and a further seasonal extension through the summer.

The practical shape that follows across the region is that outdoor spaces carry the ceremony, the aperitif and often dinner, and an indoor room carries the party. It is why so many Catalan venues are built exactly that way.

Music and sound at the castle

The venue offers a full service that includes the gastronomy, the decoration, the lighting and the music, so everything can be arranged through them if that is what you want.

A ceremony in the gardens with the Mediterranean behind it is one of the reasons couples choose this venue, and it is worth giving its own sound rather than borrowing whatever is set up for later in the day.

Outdoors there are no walls to help carry a voice, and on any coastal site there is usually a breeze through the afternoon. What we bring for a ceremony is coverage placed close to the guests rather than a single source at the front, and microphones with proper wind protection for the celebrant, the readings and the couple, so the people at the back hear the ceremony as clearly as the people at the front.

Getting your guests there and home

Tarragona is about ten minutes away and has plenty of accommodation, Reus airport is close, and Barcelona and its airport are roughly an hour and a quarter by road. There is parking at the castle.

For a wedding running late, one piece of advice that applies anywhere: book more than one coach back. Two departures thirty or forty minutes apart let the guests who want an early night take the first and the guests who came to dance stay to the end, instead of everybody leaving at the same moment.

We play either as DJ only, working on the sound system that is already in place, or with our own sound and lighting where that is what has been arranged, sized to the room rather than to the van. Where a couple has engaged an AV or production company separately, often through a planner, we work alongside them.
